Portuguese wines won 365 medals at the "Concours Mondial de Bruxelles"
Most of them are red: 3 from Douro, 3 from Dão, 1 from Tejo and 1 from Algarve. There’s still 1 white wine from Peninsula de Setubal, 1 sparkling wine from Bairrada and 1 fortified wine from Madeira. These wines have earned the highest distinction possible in the Brussels World Contest. In addition to the 11 Great Gold Medals, 135 Portuguese wines, including whites, reds and fortified wines, obtained a Gold Medal and 219 others were awarded the Silver Medal.

Since its creation in 1994, the "Concours Mondial de Bruxelles" has set itself up as the wine world-championship, with almost 7000 wines from four continents.

This year's competition was held in Switzerland between the 2nd and 5th of May. It had a specialized jury, consisting of about 340 wine professionals. Their 43 different nationalities ensure the diversity and unique character of the event.
